My colleagues and I participated in the 18th Panhellenic Conference on Psychological Research organized by the Hellenic Psychological Society in Athens, Greece from 05-09 of October 2022! During the conference, Christos Gkoumas, Leonidas Bourikas and I presented a poster entitled "Innovative technologies for the assessment and training of cognitive abilities in children". We also had the opportunity to have a booth where we showcased immersive Virtual Reality (iVR) and table applications that we have developed under the Neo-PRISM-C ITN project.
Attendees had the chance to have a hands-on experience on:
1. A set of iVR rooms coupled with eye-tracking for studying the learning and memory of spatial information in children (by Christos Gkoumas).
2. A speech and recognition system for assessing decoding skills in children and a gamified platform for data collection using tablets (by Leonidas Bourikas).
3. An iVR classroom for training attention in children with attention deficits (by myself).
I would like to give a special thank you to my supervisor, Dr. Panagiota Dimitropoulou for her continuous support and to Silversky3d VR Technologies Ltd for the help on the development of the applications!
I believe that iVR is the future of psychological research and there are great times ahead for those working at the intersection of psychology and technology!
